During your first session, we'll discuss your what led you to therapy and any concerns or goals you have. This session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist, explore your history, and build a comfortable, supportive environment.

How do I know if therapy is working?

Everyone’s goals and progress in therapy can look and feel different. At times, you may feel like things aren’t improving, but it can be hard to recognize our own growth while we’re in it. You may begin to notice changes such as increased patience or tolerance, greater self-awareness, a stronger ability to manage challenges, or improved self-esteem. If you’re feeling unsure or stuck, feel free to check in with your therapist.

Remember, therapy is a collaborative process. Progress is often gradual, sometimes uncomfortable, and rarely linear.

What should I do if it doesn't feel like a good fit?

Don't worry, it happens! If you don't feel like your therapist is a good fit you can ask to be referred to another therapist. Your therapist wants the best for you too :)

What is the cancellation policy?

We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If a session is cancelled within 48 hours from the allotted session time, a $95 cancellation fee will be applied (excluding emergencies).

Is everything I say confidential?

Confidentiality is an important part of therapy. What you share in session is kept private and protected by professional ethics and privacy laws. All of our therapists participate in supervision and consultation to support quality care; outside of this, your personal information and the content of your sessions cannot be shared without your written permission.

There are some limits to confidentiality, as therapists are mandated reporters. Therapists may be required to disclose information in cases of suspected child or elder abuse or neglect, if there is intent or a plan to harm yourself or others, or if records are requested through a valid court order or subpoena.

While our interns are in the final stages of earning their graduate degrees and are building their clinical experience, they are far from "learning on their own." Each intern has completed extensive academic training, has developed foundational counseling skills through supervised clinical work, and provides therapy under the close guidance of experienced licensed clinicians.One of the unique benefits of working with an intern is that your care is supported by two professionals—your therapist and their clinical supervisor. Interns regularly consult with their supervisors to ensure clients receive thoughtful, ethical, and evidence-based care. They also bring fresh perspectives, current research, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping clients make meaningful progress.Many clients find that interns are highly engaged, compassionate, and dedicated to creating a strong therapeutic relationship. They often have the flexibility to spend additional time preparing for sessions, researching effective interventions, and thoughtfully tailoring treatment to each client's unique needs.Choosing to work with an intern doesn't mean sacrificing quality. It means receiving attentive, personalized care while making therapy more financially accessible. For many people, it's an excellent way to begin their mental health journey with the support of a collaborative clinical team.
